Crypto checkout JavaScript SDK: planned and working today
Crypto checkout JavaScript SDK explained: a planned script that opens the payment window, what is on the Qvard roadmap and what works today.
A crypto checkout JavaScript SDK would open a payment window from a few lines of code on your site. Qvard has a Low-Code SDK on the roadmap and it is not released yet. This guide explains the idea and shows the live v1 flow you can use now.
What a checkout SDK does
A checkout SDK is a small JavaScript library that a site loads to start a payment. It draws the payment window, sends the customer through the steps and reports the status back to the page. The merchant keeps the order logic on the server.
Status: the SDK is on the roadmap
The Qvard Low-Code SDK is not released yet, and this article does not describe it as a finished library. The snippet below is a preview of the planned call, not code you can run today.
What works today
Create the payment on your server with POST /api/v1/payment and the x-api-key header, redirect the customer to the returned redirectUrl on the hosted checkout page, and receive the final status by webhook. This is the working equivalent of the planned SDK call.
x-api-key: sk_live_…
{
"id": "order_1024",
"price": 149.99,
"paymentSystemId": 12
}
// 201 Created
{
"data": {
"id": "8f3k2a1c",
"redirectUrl": "https://my.qvard.com/pay/8f3k2a1c"
},
"code": 201,
"message": "success",
"status": true
}The server call
Send the order id as id and the price in USD as price. Keep the API key on the server; the browser only receives the redirectUrl that the server returns.
// ROADMAP preview: the SDK is not released yet.
QvardCheckout.open({ amount: 149.99, currency: "USD", orderId: "order_1024" });The planned SDK call
The roadmap SDK is expected to open the same payment flow from the page with one call. The method name and the options may change before release, so do not build against the preview yet.
How to prepare
Keep payment creation in one backend function and the webhook handler separate. When the SDK is released, only the front-end call changes; the server call and the webhook stay the same.
FAQ
Is there a Qvard checkout JavaScript SDK today?
No. The Low-Code SDK is on the roadmap. Today the same result comes from the API, the hosted checkout page and the webhook.
Can I use the QvardCheckout.open() call now?
No. It is shown only as a preview of the planned API. Use POST /api/v1/payment and redirect to the redirectUrl instead.
Do I need a JavaScript library to accept crypto today?
No. A normal button that calls your backend and redirects to the redirectUrl is enough, and the webhook confirms the payment.
How can I test the flow?
Create a demo invoice and check that your webhook receives the final status.
